Position Description: Part-Time Bookkeeper (Independent Contractor)

ministries.
Position Summary:
St. Philip’s seeks an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to serve as an independent
contractor, working approximately 10 hours per month. The Bookkeeper will collaborate with the
Treasurer, clergy, and Vestry to ensure the church’s financial operations are accurate, timely, and
well-documented. Most work may be done remotely, with occasional in-person meetings as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
● Accounts Payable: Process approximately 10 transactions per month.
● Accounts Receivable: Record contributions, manage deposits, and prepare quarterly and
annual contribution statements.
● Payroll: Administer payroll in a timely and accurate manner.
● Financial Reporting: Work with the Treasurer to prepare regular reports for clergy and Vestry.
● Recordkeeping: Maintain organized and accurate financial records.
● Collaboration: Communicate effectively with staff and lay leaders regarding financial matters.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience (nonprofit or church experience preferred).
● Familiarity with Realm church management software (preferred but not required).
● Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and integrity.
● Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
● Proficiency with accounting software and basic office tools.
Compensation:
This is an independent contractor position with compensation commensurate with experience. Hours
are estimated at approximately 10 per month, with scheduling flexible. Additional hours likely required
during onboarding.
